Sideways is a funny movie, and the wine jokes are great, but it also felt a bit strange to watch a movie where the guys are such pathetic losers. I wonder if this is how women feel when they watch a movie where the only female characters are drug-addicted hookers. At first I thought this was going to be sort of a male version of Thelma & Louise, but it wasn't. Come to think of it, maybe these guys should have driven off a cliff at the end, just to give the story a little kick.

amen, sistah.

I just had this exact same conversation with my guy. He was trying to explain how it's a man's movie (huh? like women have chick flicks?), and of course women are appalled watching the guys make horrendous decisions. I thought the script was solid minus a few of those goofy wine monoloques, and that it was well done, but the characters and their glaring flaws were no escape from reality whatsoever.

Iron Monkey: a guy who sort of gets it.

My son thought this movie was hysterical. the only part I laughed at was "1 for you, 3 for me".

They DID try to drive off a cliff, but A)They weren't in the car & B) it was a ditch. (when they missed the tree)
