Has anyone ever won a war on terror?

Has there ever been a country, anywhere in the world, at any time in history, that won a war on terror? I mean a country that could legitimately say, "yes, we had a big problem with terrorists, but we fought them, and we won, and the terrorist threat went away."

If so, what did they do? How did they win?

If not, then . . . uh . . . drat.

I keep wondering why nobody digs up information on the anarchist bombings in the early 20th Century. The war on that terror seems to have been won. Or maybe it's just that that terrorism sank in the maelstrom of the wars, swamped by fascist and communist state-sponsored terror.

I read a great article comparing Bush to Napolean and comparing the war in Iraq on France's war with Egypt. I guess France thought they were liberating Egypt when they invaded them. As with the case of Iraq, the Egyptians were not happy with the imperialism, and eventually fought back and won.

Bush has some crazy ideas about terrorists and war. Makes me scared to live here sometimes....

Can we say Patriot Act?
