So, it turns out cough syrup is no better than sugar water. It performed no better than a placebo in a test. From now on, I'm making my own cough syrup out of sugary water combined with a proven pain-reliever, also known as a gin and tonic.

NOW you tell me. After I already wasted five bucks on foul tasting crap that made me dizzy and sick to my stomach.
Shoulda gone with the traditional honey, lemon, and whiskey.
Codeine is a whole different ball game . . . it definitely has an effect :-). Back when I was in college, one of my friends drank a whole bottle of codeine cough syrup as a "recreational drug." He said it made him think he was turning into a lizard, or something like that.
